May 23 Yuval Avital "After a huge success of its first concert tour last month, and after a truly emotional concert last night in Biella, the Jerusalem-born guitarist and composer Yuval Avital wants to repeat his success with the most heterogenic ensemble you might imagine…" (Il Giornale, Italy, 29.07.2006) " The opening on Tuesday was with the virtuoso musician Yuval Avital heading an international ensemble of musicians, actors and dancers presenting an evening of three-dimensional art. Avital, who spends most of his time in Italy... is discovering new and diverse forms of creative communication." The exibition 'Israele Arte e Vita 1906-2006" hosted in Palazzo Reale of Milan, had touched its pick in the world premiere of Maga' written by Yuval Avital and Alessio Mazzolotti- a new dialogue between music and images... in the magnificent Sala delle Cariatidi…" (European art magazine, 20.12.2006) ”…The reality we’re living contradicts in many ways the concept of dialogue: the social reality is being divided constantly while the modern way of life keep pushing the individual to a more isolated way of living. Pre-concepts, fear, the absence of vision in modern politics and both social and economical injustice becomes our bars of our isolation, and the communication system of the 21st century is used, unfortunately, so many times in a banal way, transmitting codes of fear, violence and abuse relying on concepts of ratings and commercial trickery. But, fortunately, there is also a higher sort of communication that grows today that can carry the metaphor of a bridge: a bridge between me and myself, between others, between past and future and between the world and me… and me. This bridge is all what my music is about…”
Yuval’s collaborations and multi-cultural musical projects involve great masters from Africa, China, Dagestan, Iran, Israel, Palestine, Kazakhstan and try to search new forms of musical expressions through dialogue, as suggested in a unique project that he had crated in Italy, titled Trialogo festival, working together with great musical masters of our time, such as Guo Yue, Abbas Baktiari, Piris & Mark Eliyahu and many others. Yuval’s original Multi media works joins together cultures, traditions together with innovation and originality, where in sound, movement and word interact, to produce a complete form of expression, devoid of hierarchy, but, instead, sharing creativity and inspiration. The languages used in these works convey a collaborative effort of Ancient styles and traditions, descending from Eastern cultures, together with contemporary work, combining Mystical texts, contemporary poetry, Indian Raga, Baroque music and many other sources, to produce a magical refined performance, presented by high level artists. This activity had led to his foundation of an international multi disciplinary artistic “task force” named MAGA’ - formed by leading artists from many different fields and cultures, joining the Italian writer and director Alessio Mazzolotti to its direction. Yuval Avital’s original works & improvisations connects two opposite poles, one woven into the other: the first is a creative, spontaneous and open-ended expression, and the second is the “ground” from which one chooses to create, and the space in which the creation grows. Like the physical ground and space, also the metaphorical creative space has rules and conventions that define and distinguish its essence. The compositions contains many different styles and genres, using Eastern and Western traditions side-by-side and along with modern contemporary perceptions, such as Aleatoric techniques, Heterophony, side by side to new experimental search. His works are based on a search for an intercultural trance- disciplinary language by searching and revealing the connecting concepts inside art, and for that reason some of Avital’s original creations don’t stop at a purely musical expression, but includes dialogues with other arts. Yuval Avital’s career includes numerous solo and ensemble concerts, performances and commissioned original works, participation in international festivals and in concert tours, live and recorded Radio and TV broadcasts; all that in a non-stop activity stretched all over the globe: from Denmark to the Philippines, from Kazakhstan to Portugal, From China to Switzerland.
